Finally...our long awaited eco cruise with the Hackensack Riverkeeper happened. A beautiful night - a fabulous boat - good food and drink - super stories from Captain Bill - and of course, great company.

Although our boat ride was  cancelled due the forecast of more storms this evening, it actually turned out to be a beautiful evening, so we made "lemonade out of the lemons" and had a lovely picnic overlooking the water watching the sunset.
We will reschedule very soon. Can't wait to return!

Come join us for an incredible journey on the Hackensack River, through the marshes of the New Jersey Meadowlands, and more!  Eco-Cruises are fun, educational tours aboard Hackensack Riverkeeper’s specially rigged 30-foot pontoon boats. Captain Bill Sheehan started Eco-Cruises in 1994 to increase awareness of the lower Hackensack River as a vital natural and recreational resource. Most Eco-Cruises include 2 ½ hours on the water and are fully narrated by either Capt. Bill or Program Director Capt. Hugh Carola – both of whom are US Coast Guard-licensed captains. The Oradell-Emerson Rotary will have a private cruise on June 21. Seats still available. Call Maria Rini 201 615 4783 to sign up.

William "Pat" Schuber, former Bergen County Executive and assistant professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, shared with us the story of Camp Merritt, the largest embarkation camp in the U.S. during WWI, located right here in Bergen County. The talk was just fascinating; Pat is a terrific speaker and his passion for the history of Bergen County is infectious. Thank you, Pat! We had a wonderful evening.
